3 family members accused of child abuse tracked down, arrested at hotel on Oregon coast

At a hotel on the Oregon coast, where they were hiding from authorities, a Sunriver family accused of child abuse was taken into custody on Friday, according to officials.

According to court documents, Sarah Marie Session, 33, and her parents, Gary and Paula Hardenburg, 65 and 60, are charged with 28 counts of child abuse, including second-degree attempted murder.

According to the accusation, Session, a licensed teacher in Oregon, forced a preteen child under her supervision to consume vomit after striking the child with curtain rods and a doorstopper. According to the accusation, she also reportedly denied the youngster food and medical attention.

Court documents show that she was charged with first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault, five instances of third-degree assault, eight counts of first-degree criminal mistreatment, and two acts of coercion in addition to the second-degree attempted murder allegation.

According to Session’s 2022 divorce suit, she has two children and a stepchild.

According to officials, Session and her parents were charged on Tuesday after the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation.

According to court documents, Paula Hardenburg, Session’s mother, is charged with first and second-degree criminal mistreatment of the child, second-degree assault, and tampering with physical evidence. Gary Hardenburg, Session’s father, is also charged with first and second degree criminal mistreatment and evidence tampering.
