The city of Portland has sent out around two dozen snowplows to clear the streets as the snowfall in the Portland area continues. In order to help melt any ice that may be building up, the city also has a number of other vehicles.
An interactive map The website of the Portland Bureau of Transportation provides up-to-date information on snowplow and support vehicle activities across the city. Officials have advised drivers not to pass snowplows on any road and cautioned the public to avoid travel unless absolutely necessary.
Snowplows will primarily clean vital roadways between police and fire stations, hospitals, transit hubs, downtown, and other crowded locations, according to state and local officials. As of 10:30 a.m., there is no snow chain advisory in effect.
One street closure on North Longview Avenue between North Mason and North Skidmore streets has been reported by the city thus far because of a fallen tree. You can find out about any more road closures at portland.gov/transportation/weather. The city warns that driving around a barricade or a roadway closure can result in a ticket and fine.
