At 12:05 p.m. on Thursday, the National Weather Service issued an updated wind advisory for East Portland Metro that was in force until 10 p.m.
According to the meteorological service, there will be “East winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph.”
“Unsecured objects will be buffeted by gusty gusts. There could be a few power outages and tree branches being blown down. Exposure of unprotected skin to these temperatures will result in hypothermia and frostbite. According to the weather service, prolonged exposure to wind chill values might result in hypothermia. “Be extremely careful when driving, particularly if you’re in a prominent car. Garbage cans and other easily blown-around items should be secured outside. To avoid frostbite and/or hypothermia, anyone preparing to go outside should exercise common sense and dress appropriately, covering any exposed skin. Avoid staying outside in damp weather as this can make it more likely that the body will cool down and become hypothermic.
United Robots offers a service called Advance Local Weather Alerts that gathers the most recent information from the National Weather Service using machine learning.
