I-84 closed near Multnomah Falls due to crash, 100-vehicle pileup

Following a collision that happened just before 11 a.m., a section of Interstate 84 is closed to traffic traveling west of Multnomah Falls.

According to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, the pileup featured over 100 vehicles, including cars, trucks, and semitrucks. Authorities said one SUV caught fire.

The workplace posted on X at 12:39 p.m., after everyone had successfully exited the SUV. Responders are traveling by vehicle. Although there is yet no figure, there have been reports of injuries.

A 4-mile section west of the falls has been closed due to the crash. Lanes heading east are still open.

The state agency stated in a news statement at 11:45 a.m. that there may be a protracted closure because of the snow accumulation in the Portland area.
