Since offensive line coach Kyle DeVan is leaving for the NFL’s Chicago Bears, Oregon State is looking for a new assistant football coach.
According to a source by Matt Zenitz of 247Sports, DeVan, a former offensive lineman for OSU who joined the Beavers coaching staff in December 2023, is anticipated to be hired by the Bears.
Given that the Bears signed Dan Roushar as their offensive line coach earlier in February, DeVan is most likely going to be an assistant offensive line coach.
The Beavers have openings for an offensive line coach and receivers coach with eighteen days left until spring practice begins. Ryan Gunderson (offensive coordinator), Jamie Christian (special teams), Rod Chance (secondary), AJ Cooper (secondary), and Ilaisa Tuiaki (defensive line) are the last assistant coaches from Oregon State’s 2024 staff.
DeVan, who will earn $600,000 at Oregon State the next season, started his NFL coaching career in 2015 as an assistant offensive line coach for New Orleans. Since 2016, DeVan has been a college coach. Roushar and DeVan collaborated in New Orleans.
DeVan, who played offensive guard for Oregon State from 2003 to 2007, was named to the Pac-10 first team in 2006. DeVan went on to play in the NFL for five years.
