Oregon Ducks quarterback commit predicted to flip to USC

A blue-chip quarterback prospect is expected to commit to a Big Ten team instead of the Oregon Ducks.

Several recruiting industry sources think that four-star quarterback Jonas Williams, who verbally committed to the Ducks in August, will transfer to USC.

Williams, a graduate of Illinois’ Lincoln-Way East High School, is ranked as the Class of 2026’s sixth quarterback and 93rd overall. Lincoln Riley, the head coach of the Trojans, has actively pursued him after he visited USC earlier this month in an attempt to get him to leave the Ducks.

Although nothing is official until the signing day, which is many months away, even that can be a risky situation. Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele, a 2025 quarterback signee who even went so far as to enroll at Oregon and take part in a few pre-Rose Bowl practices, ultimately transferred to Cal, so the Ducks are all too familiar with it.

As of February 19, several services rank Oregon as the top recruiting class for 2026 with 10 commits. The five-star, top-ranked quarterback Jared Curtis of Nashville, Tennessee, is another player the Ducks are vying for.
