Man dies after being dragged by MAX train at Delta Park station

At the Delta Park metro stop, a man was dragged by a MAX train on Wednesday night, resulting in his death.

John Plock, a spokesman for the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, told The Oregonian/OregonLive that the guy, who has not been publicly named, attempted to cross the tracks on foot at approximately 8:30 p.m. by walking between two cars of a stopped northbound Yellow Line train that was ready to depart the station.

The man was hooked on the couplers between the two cars when the train began to move. He struck his head on a portion of the rail construction as the train pulled him, according to Plock.

After investigating the situation, authorities from the Transit Police Division concluded that he most likely died from blunt-force head injuries. According to detectives, the deceased man’s actions do not seem to have been deliberate, Plock stated.

The incident is still being investigated.
