Salem Tesla dealership struck by gunfire; police investigating with FBI

Early on Wednesday morning, the windows of a Tesla dealership in Salem were blasted out, beginning a police inquiry that includes FBI support.

Authorities have not stated if they think the graffiti was a targeted act, but it coincides with nationwide protests over Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s involvement in the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency.

Around five in the morning, police received a report of a shooting at a dealership located at 2755 Southeast Mission St. When officers arrived, they discovered that the windows had been shot through, according to an email from Salem Police Department spokesperson Angela Hedrick.

According to Hedrick, the FBI is assisting with the investigation, but no arrests have been made in relation to the event.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the FBI conducted a combined investigation after a fire that was thought to be arson broke out at the same dealership on Inauguration Day, Hedrick noted. The fire destroyed one car at the dealership.
