Ross Douglas formally announced as Oregon wide receivers coach

Eugene The hiring of Ross Douglas as Oregon’s new wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator was publicly announced.

Douglas, 30, is from Syracuse, where he served in the same role the previous season.Douglas came in Eugene earlier this week after his employment was announced last week.

Coach Douglas, his wife Kaylyn, and their son RJ are a welcome addition to our Oregon family. In a statement, Oregon coach Dan Lanning stated. Ross will be a fantastic addition to our coaching staff because he is a very intelligent coach with both professional and collegiate coaching experience. On and off the field, he does a fantastic job of developing relationships with his players, and I have no doubt that he will put in endless effort to help our student-athletes reach their full potential. Ross is a fantastic fit to improve our passing game because of his experience, and we can’t wait to have him join Eugene.

With Douglas on staff last season, Syracuse moved up from 116th in 2023 in passing to first in the nation in passing yards, sixth in passing touchdowns, and 25th in passing efficiency.

In Douglas’ first season, the Orange had three players with over 900 receiving yards, scored multiple throwing touchdowns in 11 games, and passed for at least 300 yards in 12 of 13 games.

“Joining Dan Lanning and the University of Oregon football staff is an honor and a privilege,” Douglas said in a statement. This esteemed university has a long history of excellence in its athletic department. In order for us to contend for titles, I am eager to devote every waking moment to our players and program.

Douglas, who takes over for Junior Adams, who left Oregon to become the Dallas Cowboys’ receivers coach, did not immediately reveal the details of his contract.

Before joining Syracuse and having stints at Richmond and Rutgers, Douglas was a member of the New England Patriots coaching staff for three seasons, including two as the team’s receivers coach.
