On Wednesday, the Kilauea volcano on Hawaii’s Big Island started ejecting lava into the air once more.
One of the most active volcanoes in the world, Kilauea, has been erupting intermittently for almost two months since it erupted on December 23. Within Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, the eruption has been occurring at the top crater of the volcano. Lava has not threatened any residential areas.
At 8:22 p.m., the most recent molten rock release started. Lava fountains up to 300–400 feet (91–122 meters) in height have erupted from the volcano’s north vent.
