Portland Winterhawks

The Everett Silvertips defeated the Portland Winterhawks 4-1 on the road on Friday night. They had a respectable game, giving up 46 shots to the Silvertips and having around half the possession but failing to score. Josh Zakreski’s secondary assist was the only one of their point-per-game scorers to appear on the scoreboard.

In the second game of their three games in three nights, they are back at home and are attempting to maintain their lead over the Vancouver Giants for fifth place in the Western Conference. The Tri-City Americans are two points ahead of the Giants, who are one point behind them.

74-Marek Schlenker (25 – .892/25)
17 1-Ondrej t bet k (37 – .889/37)

Three of the four games that K has started have included relatively illogical choices, but two of them have paid off. Who knows, then, who they will begin with?

Wenatchee Wild

The Wenatchee Wild defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 2-1 in overtime on Friday in an effort to maintain their hopes of securing the final playoff berth in the Western Conference. Lukas McCloskey scored the game-winning goal in overtime after Maddix McCagherty knotted the score with five minutes remaining in the third stanza. Wenatchee’s six-game losing streak was ended. After losing three of their previous five games, they eventually won the extra point.

They are tied with the Kamloops Blazers and three points below Seattle for last place. They turn into ardent Winterhawks supporters after this season-ending matchup with Portland, expecting that Portland will defeat the Thunderbirds in their final four games. Both teams are in the same situation because they are playing in the middle of a 3-in-3.
