The Lava Bears might now change their name to the Water Bears.
In contrast to miniscule tardigrades, Bend’s girls swimming team has been making waves, as seen by their third consecutive team title at the OSAA Class 5A swimming state finals on Saturday.
The Lava Bears set a new Class 5A record with 121 team points at the completion of the competition at Beaverton’s Tualatin Hills Aquatic Center.
