The National Weather Service issued an updated high wind watch for the Clatsop County Coast, Tillamook County Coast, Central Coast of Oregon, North Oregon Coast Range, and Central Oregon Coast Range on Sunday at 2:26 a.m. The watch was in effect from Monday at 7 a.m. to Tuesday at 4 a.m.
The National Weather Service states, “South winds 25 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph possible, except up to 65 mph along beaches, headlands, and higher elevations in the Coast Range and Willapa Hills.”
Damaged winds have the potential to topple electrical wires and trees. There could be widespread power disruptions. Travel may be challenging, particularly for well-known cars, the weather service said. “Before the winds start, secure loose items or place them in a secure area. Think about sleeping as far away from big trees and electrical lines as possible. Pay attention to your surroundings and your position in relation to any trees or powerlines that may be nearby. Get ready for possible power disruptions. Make sure you have adequate gasoline for your gas-powered generator. Make sure you have flashlights, batteries, and a means of keeping your body temperature safe in case your heating and cooling systems fail. Think about keeping prescription drugs and/or perishable chilled foods in a sizable ice-filled cooler. For updates, keep an eye on the most recent warnings and forecasts.
