The World Naked Bike Ride will return in 2025, but cyclists who are keen to show off will have to wait another month.
Organizers posted on social media that the Portland bike ride would now take place on Saturday, July 26 instead of June 28.
According to the organizers, the June date conflicted with Loud n Lit, another biking festival.
The organizers added, “We want to make sure all riders can attend both this summer because both events are popular.” Thus, turn on the fairy lights and take off your trousers, but not simultaneously! There will be a ton of fantastic rides this summer.
In 2004, the inaugural World Naked Bike Ride brought together bikers in various states of undress to advocate for rider safety, body positivity, and a protest against fossil fuels.
Due to difficulties in recruiting volunteers, the 2024 ride in Portland was canceled. In 2023, around 10,000 people participated in the ride.
In 2025, a spin-off bike ride is being led by a group of bikers who started a placement event in 2024.It is planned for Saturday, August 9. Similar to the first event, the route will remain a secret until the ride starts, and the starting point will be revealed closer to August.
