A student was hurt on Monday when a tree fell on the University of Oregon’s Eugene campus amid strong winds during this week’s atmospheric riverstorm system.
According to an email sent Tuesday morning by University of Oregon spokesman Angela Seydel, the student was transported to a hospital at approximately 11 a.m. According to her, there has been no update on the student’s condition as of yet.
The student’s identity has not been made public.
According to Seydel, there are branches and trees all across the site. Arborists and university work groups are still attempting to eliminate safety hazards.
In the Portland region, 100 miles away, the storm also caused significant power outages and delayed the opening of some schools because of fallen trees and power wires on the city’s roads.
