The Portland Trail Blazers dropped to 12th place in the Western Conference on Wednesday night, bringing them one step closer to perhaps securing a play-in berth.
The San Antonio Spurs (24-32) suffered a 118-106 loss to the Houston Rockets, while the Blazers (26-33) triumphed 129-121 against the Washington Wizards.
The Blazers are presently one half-game ahead of the Spurs.
The Blazers are one game behind 10th-place Sacramento (30-28) and 11th-place Phoenix (27-31) respectively.
The Spurs may keep losing after dropping their last four games. Due to a blood clot in his right shoulder, star center Victor Wembanyama will miss the season.
Three games in a row have been won by Portland. The Blazers visit the Brooklyn Nets on Friday to resume their seven-game road trip.
Sacramento’s next game is against the Rockets (37–22) on Saturday.
