The Portland Thorns presented a head-turner on Thursday, which was NWSL uniform release day.
According to a news release, the black jerseys with red accents truly stand out and symbolize the passion that the Thorns and their fans have for the team. The shirt is printed in white with Ring, the Thorns’ new sponsor.
Before last season, the Thorns had been wearing black as their preferred home jersey for a number of years. Black has returned.
Nike and Thorns players worked together to create the new uniforms. The announcement was accompanied by a picture session at the Pittock Mansion, where players assembled and styled themselves to showcase their individuality.

According to the news release, this shirt is a tribute to the inner fire that unites us all and serves as a reminder that a strong, coordinated effort and a common goal are the keys to success on the field and in the community.
Social media users were responding well to the jerseys, and ESPN placed the Thorns’ uniform as the second-best of the new NWSL outfits.
Thorns kit authentics will be sold at NWSLShop.com and PTFCauthentics.com. The embroidered crest and larger sizing (from XS to 2X for women and S to 3X for men) will be features of the replica jerseys.
