Beach hazards statement affecting Oregon from Saturday to Monday

The National Weather Service issued a beach hazards statement for the Oregon Central Coast, Clatsop County Coast, and Tillamook County Coast on Friday at 3:34 p.m., which was in effect from Saturday at 3 a.m. until Monday at 1 a.m.

When the weather service says, “Sneaker waves possible,” “Keep pets and kids out of the surf area. Avoid the logs, rocks, and jetties close to the surf area. Do not swim in after someone who has been swept into the sea. Make a 911 call and wait for assistance to arrive.

“On a beach, particularly over rocks and jetties, waves might go up much farther than usual. According to the weather agency, sneaker waves have the potential to knock people off their feet and drag them into the icy ocean, where they could suffer severe injuries or drown. “Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions.”

United Robots offers a service called Advance Local Weather Alerts that gathers the most recent information from the National Weather Service using machine learning.
