Beaverton football is bringing in an alumnus to coach the team after bidding farewell to longtime coach Bob Boyer.
James Testa will take over as Beaverton High School’s new head coach, the school announced Tuesday morning.
After graduating from Beaverton in 2008, Testa played collegiate football at Linfield University.
Testa has served as Mountainside’s assistant coach for the past seven years. Before that, Testa spent two years as Beaverton’s linebackers coach and three years as a coach at Monterey High School in California.

Testa will have a lot of shoes to fill. From 2003 until 2024, Boyer served as Beaverton football’s head coach. The Beavers had a 117-107 record during that 22-year period.
In Beaverton, Testa teaches social studies as well.
