Brace for a wet, windy start of the week in Portland

The weather on Sunday will be warm, damp, and a little windy.

The National Weather Service anticipates between half an inch and three quarters of an inch of rain on Sunday as the atmospheric river continues to dump water on Portland.

A flood watch has been issued by the National Weather Service for a large portion of southern Washington and northwest Oregon through Tuesday night.

Sunday will see temperatures in Portland reach 57 degrees, which is somewhat warmer than the historical average of 53 degrees for this time of year in February. Additionally, a south wind with gusts of up to 31 miles per hour is predicted by the weather service.

The wind is expected to increase significantly on Monday, reaching up to 40 miles per hour, according to forecasters. As a result, a wind advisory is in effect from Monday midday until the early hours of Tuesday.

The North Oregon Cascades and the Oregon Coast Range will be especially badly affected by rain.

According to the National Weather Service, melting snow and precipitation could raise the risk of landslides and flooding in the Cascades.

The anavalanche warning is valid until 6 p.m. on Sunday.
