Classic Portland McMenamins location is set to close after 35 years

Although Edgefield is undoubtedly the most adored McMenamins in the area, Rams Head holds a special place in the hearts of many Portlanders.

The traditional bar on Hoyt Street and Northwest 23rd Avenue is already shutting.

McMenamins announced on Instagram Monday morning that it had opted not to extend the lease at the Rams Head site in northwest Portland after 35 years.

Don’t worry, you have the next several months to bid farewell to this legendary NW 23rd jewel and get your final Rams Head Passport stamps because the lease isn’t expiring until June!

In 1983, two brothers, Mike and Brian McMenamin, came up with the idea for McMenamins, a brewpub. One of their first few locations was Rams Head.

The corporation currently owns about 60 properties in Washington and Oregon.

In June, McMenamins intends to host a party honoring Rams Head, according to Instagram. Until then, holders of McMenamins passports must obtain their Rams Head stamp.
