Downed wires near Delta Park delay MAX service on snowy Thursday

Around 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, TriMet reported that a tree fell on the overhead wires close to the Delta Park/Vanport MAX Station, causing disruptions to the MAX Orange and Yellow Lines.

Some delays are probably caused by fallen trees and limbs, as well as slick roads, on a day when many commuters may depend on public transportation to get around in the snowy weather. Due to dangerous road conditions, C-Tran has restricted travel on a number of bus lines, including #30 and #32. For the most recent information as the day goes on, visit c-tran.com.

For the next few hours, shuttle buses will transport MAX passengers on the Orange and Yellow lines between the Expo Center and the N. Lombard Transit Center as workers fix the overhead lines.

As of 9:30 a.m., MAX Blue, Green, and Red lines are operating regularly. For the most recent information on route changes or delays, visit TriMet.org/alerts.

According to TriMet, as of mid-morning, there are no significant weather-related delays in bus service. About 30 buses already have heavy-duty chains fitted and will be dispatched to serve as needed, while some buses are employing drop-down chains. Keep in mind that buses with chains are only allowed to go at 25 mph, and that some routes will have delays.

Limited paratransit services are available through TriMet’s LIFT service. When there are changes because of winter conditions, LIFT communicates with riders directly.

Pioneer Courthouse Square’s TriMet Customer Support Center is closed on Thursdays.
