High wind warning for Grande Ronde Valley until Thursday night

The National Weather Service issued a strong wind warning for the Grande Ronde Valley on Wednesday at 2:22 p.m., which was in effect from 10 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Thursday.

According to the meteorological service, “South winds 25 to 40 mph with gusts 50 to 60 mph expected.”

Trees and electricity wires will be toppled by damaging winds. There will likely be widespread power outages. It will be challenging to travel, particularly for well-known cars. Exposure of unprotected skin to these temperatures will result in hypothermia and frostbite. According to the weather service, prolonged exposure to such low temperatures can result in hypothermia. “Avoid windows during the windstorm and stay in the lower floors of your house. Keep an eye out for tree limbs and other debris. If you have to drive, drive carefully. As much as possible, keep pets inside.
