Ice storm warning issued for Oregon until early Friday morning

The National Weather Service issued an ice storm warning for the Central Oregon Coast Range Lowlands, the Central Oregon Coast Range, the West Central Willamette Valley, the East Central Willamette Valley, the Benton County Lowlands, the Linn County Lowlands, and the Lane County Lowlands on Wednesday at 3:10 p.m. The warning was in effect from 10 p.m. until Friday at 4 a.m.

Significant icing is anticipated, according to the weather service. accumulations of ice up to three tenths of an inch and snow up to one inch overall.

“Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous,” the weather agency says. “Unless there is an emergency, travel is strongly discouraged. You are risking your life if you leave the protection of inside. It will be slippery and icy to walk on. If you must venture outside, proceed with additional caution.”
