More than a million of Igloo’s coolers sold in the US, Mexico, and Canada are being recalled because of a handle hazard that has caused a few fingertip injuries, including several amputations.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a recall notice on Thursday for the now-recalled Igloo 90 Qt. Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers, stating that the tow handle can press users’ fingertips against the product, potentially resulting in amputation and other crushing hazards.
According to the CPSC, Igloo has received 12 reports of injuries in the United States, including lacerations, bone fractures, and amputations of fingertips. Neither Mexico nor Canada have reported any injuries.
Customers who already own the coolers are advised to cease using them right away and get in touch with Igloo to request a free replacement handle.
Between 2019 and January 2025, the now-recalled coolers were offered for sale for between $80 and $140 at big-box stores like Costco, Target, Dick’s, and Amazon. In addition to 47,000 in Canada and another 23,000 in Mexico, around 1.06 million were bought in the United States.
The model number and description of the impacted products can be used to identify them. Before January 2024, they were made in the United States and offered in a variety of colors with the name IGLOO emblazoned on the side.

Igloo said in a statement that consumer safety was its first priority and that it was recalling these rolling coolers and giving them free new handles. The business also stated that we are continuously enhancing our products to satisfy the highest safety standards through thorough testing and preventive measures.
