At the Littlewood Classic, Oregon softball won again thanks to a dozen strikeouts from Lyndsey Grein.
In the No. 20 Ducks’ 4-0 victory over Belmont on Sunday morning in Phoenix, the Virginia Tech transfer gave up one unearned run on one hit, one walk, and one hit batter in 5.2 innings.
In the first inning, Oregon (10-1) took the lead thanks to a two-run home run from Emma Cox.
Rylee McCoy added a solo home run in the fourth inning, while Stefini Maake singled for an RBI in the third.
Grein, meanwhile, retired 12 out of the 13 hitters she faced in the beginning. Her day ended with a single with two outs in the sixth, but Belmont broke the shutout with a double and an error.
In 1.1 innings pitched, Taylour Spencer gave up one hit and recorded one strikeout.
Next weekend, in Cathedral City, California, Oregon will play five games in the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic.
