This week, Governor Tina Kotek encouraged lawmakers to get down and make tough choices over how to boost state financing for firefighting and wildfire mitigation.
She brought attention to a comprehensive plan put up by a group of legislators, representatives of the forest business, environmentalists, and others to redirect current state funding sources, create new ones, or both in order to increase wildfire efforts by around $150 million annually.
