Oregon State has found its latest receivers coach from the staff of a 2025 opponent

Pat McCann of Fresno State is apparently going to Corvallis, and Oregon State has landed its next receivers coach.

Matt Zenitz, a national reporter for 247Sports, says McCann is anticipated to become a member of the OSU staff. Kefense Hynson, who has been Oregon State’s receivers coach since 2018, just left to take a position as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ passing game coordinator. McCann takes over for Hynson.

This year, when Oregon State takes on Fresno State at Reser Stadium on September 6, McCann might be a little extra help for the Beavers.

After spending three years at Fresno State, McCann, who was born and raised in Olympia, Washington, returns to the Northwest. In addition to being the Bulldogs’ offensive coordinator in 2023 and 2024, McCann coached receivers for all three years.

Throughout his collegiate coaching career, McCann has made six stops. McCann coached receivers at UC Davis, Northern Iowa, and Eastern Washington prior to Fresno State. In 2009, he began working at Stonehill College.

McCann was a wide receiver for Western Washington University’s football team.

Until McCann and Mike Cavanaugh, who was announced as the Beavers’ new offensive line coach on Saturday, make their formal announcements, Oregon State’s assistant coaching staff is now complete.
