Portland Winterhawks

The Portland Winterhawks defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 4-3 on Monday afternoon thanks to a goal from Diego Buttazzoni in the third period. Despite being more exhausted from their journey, Seattle defeated Portland 39–24. Portland didn’t win by a wide margin, and their play has been patchy for the past month or so. They have a 5-5 record in their previous 10 games and have alternated between victories and defeats in their last 6 games.

They were still two points clear of the Tri-City Americans for fifth place in the conference, but it was still a victory. Playing the Prince George Cougars in the first round of the playoffs rather than Spokane is now the reward for finishing fifth.

Portland now begins a run of three games in three days. Travel-wise, though, it’s one of the better 3-in-3s you could want for: two home games after a comparatively quick journey to Everett. However, they will be facing the conference’s top two clubs.

72-Reed Brown (51 – 10/51)

Game 100 is played by Ryan Miller. There are 17 of them in the playoffs. He has doubled his points per game from the previous season to this one, and he currently has 41 points. It’s likely that he will play 300 games.

Buttazzoni aims to reach double figures in his point streak. He has scored 11 points in the nine games he has played, demonstrating his proficiency with single-point games.

Chyzowski has a 4-game streak, while Weiermair has a 5-game streak.

Yaremko’s lower body problem keeps him out of commission month after month.

16 22-Griffin Darby (43 – 4/43)

On Monday, Jugnauth’s point streak reached six games. In 26 of his last 28 games, he has scored points. He has had streaks of 5, 5, 10, 10, and 6 since October 27.

Unfortunately, Slobodian is categorized as week-to-week after hurting his shoulder in a brawl with Nathan Pilling of Seattle following Pilling’s match penalty.

Goalies

(Career games – season save%/games)

18
74-Marek Schlenker (25 – .892/25)
17 1-Ondrej t bet k (36 – .887/36)

Despite not reaching the halfway point of each game, t bet k has played two games versus Everett and has stopped 29 of 38 shots, good for a.763 save percentage. However, it’s a small sample size. On Monday, they pitted him against Seattle, a team he hadn’t performed well against. Despite some shaky goals, his numbers ultimately turned out okay, and they won the game.

In contrast, Schlenker’s save percentage in four games against the Tips is.917.

Everett Silvertips

The Everett Silvertips are 11-5-2-2 since their New Year’s Eve game against Portland. which is fine, but before that they were 28-5-2-1. Their record of 4-6 versus clubs they would anticipate facing in the later stages of the playoffs is concerning.

They have a few excuses about injuries. Julius Miettinen, a Kraken second-round pick, has missed 23 consecutive games, making him the biggest. Kaden Hammell, a fifth-round pick in the Kraken draft, has missed three games. Veteran Austin Roest hasn’t played a game for them. He was a point-per-game performer for the previous two seasons before the Predators sent him back to Everett without warning. However, there has been a decline. They have only scored 3.4 goals per game in calendar 2025, although previously they were aiming for five goals. It has primarily been attacking.

They defeated one of those clubs they might anticipate playing late in the playoffs 3-2 on Monday in Victoria. Eric Jamieson, a defenseman, scored all three goals.

With a home game on Saturday and a trip down to Kent to play the Seattle Thunderbirds, it’s a light travel weekend. However, Seattle, who is playing on par with them, is their most likely first-round playoff opponent.

38-Shea Busch (27 – 10/27)
16 45-Owen Cooper (39 – 4/39)

49-Caine Wilke (45 – 16/44)

Lukas Kaplan, a sixth-round pick with 37 points and 9 playoff games, has played 100 games, which is a respectable return for a sixth-round pick at this stage.

Both Miettinen and Roest work on a week-to-week basis.

After starting the season with 56 points in 36 games, Mackenzie has 12 points in 2025. After starting the year with 45 in 35, Rymon has 15 in 19 this year. Heslop: 38 in 36 at first, then 16 in 20. Bear started 51 in 29 and is now 26 in 20. Thus, their finest forwards have started dropping off.

Defensemen

44-Kaeson Fisher (14 – 0/14)
16 42-Brek Liske (60 – 9/54)
15 9-Landon DuPont (52 – 52/52)

Another one of their standouts who plays every week is Hammell.

DuPont is still having a fantastic season at the age of 15, but even he has fallen: after starting 40 in 32, he is now 12 in 20. Smith’s decrease is less severe, going from 16 in 20 to 33 in 33.

Surprisingly, Jamieson had previously scored a hat trick against the Kamloops Blazers in the previous season. However, he has never scored precisely two goals in a game.

Goalies
18
31-Jesse Sanche (62 – .901/31)

35-Raiden LeGall (15 – .915/15)

For the playoffs, they will need to determine who their best goalie is.

Recently, Sanche has been struggling; in four of his previous six games, his save % has fallen below.810. After joining from the Manitoba league, LeGall has improved recently and may be assuming the top slot, which may have been the original plan. As an 18-year-old with an NCAA scholarship, he’s kind of in Diego Buttazzoni’s camp, though it’s unclear exactly what that means for the upcoming campaign. He may have had a scholarship when he joined the league, which made a difference.
