The Oregon Nurses Association announced Monday that Providence and the union that represents its striking nurses would begin face-to-face negotiations for the first time since the two parties came to a disastrous deal over two weeks ago.
Since reaching a tentative contract deal on February 4, the Catholic not-for-profit health system’s striking nurses and its negotiators have not met in person. The agreement was later rejected by a large majority of the 5,000 striking nurses at the eight hospitals in the health system.
