In Oregon, striking nurses have been informed by Providence Health & Services that if the work stoppage continues, their health coverage would expire at the end of the month.
The 36-day strike, which started on January 10th, has affected around 5,000 nurses working at all eight Providence hospitals in the state. Newly unionized physicians and advanced practitioners from Providence’s chain of six women’s clinics as well as Providence St. Vincent Medical Center were also on strike.
