**Tensions Erupt Between Biden and Pelosi Amid Recovery from Injury** Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi has faced an outpouring of support following her recent hip injury in Luxembourg, with well-wishes from global leaders, colleagues across the political spectrum, and even royalty, including Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg, who hosted her at the time of the accident. However, the silence from President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden has drawn significant attention and criticism, particularly from Pelosi’s family and allies. ### A Rift Between Party Titans The lack of communication from the Bidens is seen as emblematic of a deeper feud between two of the Democratic Party’s most prominent figures. Pelosi’s daughter, Alexandra Pelosi, did not mince words, criticizing Jill Biden’s lingering resentment toward Pelosi for urging the president to withdraw from his reelection bid last year. “If I was Lady McBiden, I’d put on my big girl pants, play the long game, and think about my husband’s legacy,” Alexandra Pelosi remarked, emphasizing her personal stance on the issue. ### Fallout from Political Decisions Pelosi’s intervention in the Democratic campaign dynamics last year, urging Biden to step aside due to waning public support, is cited as the source of tension. While Pelosi’s actions are regarded by many as critical to salvaging the party’s performance, the president reportedly took the move as a personal affront, effectively severing their once-close relationship. ### Silence and Symbolism The Bidens’ absence was notably felt at a White House holiday party in December, where Jill Biden’s conspicuous nonappearance during a brief interaction with the Pelosi family underscored the strained relations. Adding fuel to the fire, Jill Biden publicly expressed disappointment in Pelosi during a recent interview, signaling the ongoing grudge. ### Historical and Personal Ties Biden and Pelosi share a decades-long relationship rooted in shared faith, institutionalist values, and a history of collaboration. Yet, those close to the president suggest he views Pelosi’s actions as a betrayal, given their personal and professional bond. ### Calls for Reconciliation Despite the chill, some allies, including former Sen. Christopher Dodd and Rep. Rosa DeLauro, remain hopeful for a reconciliation. However, the Pelosi family remains disheartened by the administration’s response—or lack thereof—during her recovery. As the Democratic Party looks toward the future, the rift between Biden and Pelosi serves as a stark reminder of the personal and political complexities that shape its leadership dynamics.
