Winter Storm Warning Issued for Southeastern Pennsylvania and Parts of New Jersey
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Storm Warning for southeastern Pennsylvania and Mercer and Somerset counties in New Jersey. The warning is in effect from 10 a.m. Sunday to 1 a.m. Monday. Meanwhile, Burlington, Ocean (excluding the coastal zone), and all of Monmouth counties in New Jersey are under a Winter Storm Advisory.
Snowy, Colder Weather Expected
In an update early Sunday morning, the NWS in Mount Holly noted a shift in the storm’s track, which is now expected to bring colder temperatures and more snow to areas near and south of the I-95 corridor. Snowfall is forecast to begin late Sunday morning and continue into the evening, with snowfall rates of up to an inch per hour expected at times during the afternoon.
Temperatures are predicted to plummet into the teens Sunday night and remain below freezing for several days.
Snowfall Estimates
The NWS has provided the following snowfall predictions:
- 6 to 8 inches: Berks County and northern Chester and Montgomery counties.
- 4 to 6 inches: Southern Chester and Montgomery counties, and Mercer County, New Jersey.
AccuWeather’s town-specific predictions include:
- Berks County: Hamburg (3–6 inches), Reading (3–6 inches).
- Chester County: Honey Brook (3–6 inches), West Chester (3–6 inches).
- Delaware County: Ardmore (2–4 inches), Media (2–4 inches).
- Montgomery County: Lansdale (3–6 inches), Norristown (2–4 inches), Pottstown (3–6 inches).
- Mercer County, NJ: Hopewell (2–4 inches), Trenton (3–6 inches).
Travel Advisories
Both the NWS and AccuWeather are urging caution on roadways, highlighting the risks of slippery roads, poor visibility, and the potential for hazardous travel conditions. Travelers are advised to carry emergency supplies such as a flashlight, food, and water in case of unforeseen delays. For the latest road conditions, call 511 in your state.
Pennsylvania has already implemented road restrictions as of Saturday night in preparation for the storm.
