At 2:50 a.m. on Tuesday, the National Weather Service issued a special weather statement for the Lower Columbia Basin and the Foothills of the Northern Blue Mountains of Oregon, which would be in force until 9 a.m.
“Over the Blue Mountain Foothills and the Lower Columbia Basin, patchy, dense fog will persist this morning with visibility of less than a quarter mile. The temperature is almost below freezing, and the freezing fog will cause icy patches. The weather service advises avoiding cruise control and leaving plenty of space between cars.
