For the Central Oregon Coast Range Lowlands, Central Oregon Coast Range, West Central Willamette Valley, East Central Willamette Valley, Benton County Lowlands, Linn County Lowlands, and Lane County Lowlands, the National Weather Service issued an updated ice storm warning on Thursday at 11:02 a.m. that will remain in effect until Friday at 4 a.m.
“Significant icing,” the weather agency adds, in anticipation. Total ice accumulations range from two to four tenths of an inch, with additional snow accumulations reaching one inch.
“Roads will probably get slippery and dangerous, especially bridges and overpasses. Power outages might result from significant ice buildup on power lines and tree branches, the weather service warns. “Unless there is an emergency, travel is strongly discouraged. You are risking your life if you leave the protection of inside. It will be slippery and icy to walk on. If you must venture outside, proceed with additional caution.”
