With snow, wind, and chilly temperatures Thursday morning, winter weather has officially come in the Portland region.
Around 4 a.m. Thursday, sleet, freezing rain, and snow started to fall in Linn and Lane counties. Road cameras showed freezing rain in some places and snow accumulation in others. Then, that same mass of liquid moved north.

Most children’s classes were canceled early on Thursday morning.
Residents of towns throughout the Willamette Valley posted images of accumulation in their localities as comments on a Facebook post from the National Weather Service in Portland.
Snow had reached the Portland region around 8:30 a.m.

The Portland region is expected to receive one to three inches of snow on Thursday, with freezing rain expected later in the day.
Friday is predicted to bring more cold weather.
